Include files with PHP into your web page or blog

You got two options on how to integrate other files into your php based webpage:

1. require()

<?php
require('file.php');
?>

and

2. include()

<?php
include('file.php');
?>
In the examples above "file.php" is the file you wish to include. If you use function 1. you will only be able to include the files if it exist and the page will only render as normal if the file exist. If you use the 2. function the page will render even if the file doesn't exist or is unavaiable at the time you try to include it into your site.

These functions are very usable if you got elements on your page that can be in a separte page, such as navigation, the top of your page or the bottom. If you need to change a link in the menu at a later time, you only have to update navigation.php and all the other pages that you use will have the same change if you include navigation.php in the pages instead of writing the menu in every single page.
